This trip begins at Užėniškiai village in the Ligajai Landscape Reserve. Take a look around from the top of Užėniškiai mound, and then start your water trip. Weaving on the 136ha area Ligajai lake you will reach a bridge at Čepeliškės village.
Ligajas is a pothole lake with high, steep shores covered with trees and shrubs. The lake is long and narrow, stretching almost 5km from the southwest to the northeast. Before entering Lake Ligajykštis, you can observe the Kiemionys mound. Ligajykštis is a small, 600 – 700 metre long lake, overgrown with water plants. The Ligaja stream – the key of this route, runs through the lake. This stream, sometimes deep, sometimes shallow, which weaves among the dense leafy forests, runs around 3km to the Antalieptė Reservoir. The landscape at the mouth of the stream is very impressive: remnants of a former mill, and Kiemionys village on the shore, which is the gateway to a spectacular view of Antalieptė Reservoir.
When you explore the Reservoir, it is important to remember that from the mouth of Ligaja stream to Bikėnai village, the last point on this route, is a distance of around 5 kilometres. It is essential to evaluate time and strength while on the water: there is often a strong wind on the Reservoir, thus the waves can be quite high and you need to travel into the wind.
