Gražutė Regional Park offers an exclusive travelling opportunity for people with reduced mobility. A canoe quay equipped for people with reduced mobility was installed at Lake Luodis at the Sabalunkai campsiteduring the implementation of the international project Green Routes without Obstacles. This quay is a safe changing place for children and for the elderly.
The Luodis Visiems route aims to introduce visitors to Lake Luodis. Only water tourists have the unique opportunity of seeing the geological sites of the Park – the lake lagoons formed by Lake Luodis– the peninsulas of Žvėrinčius and Black Horn. Luodis is the sixth largest lake in Lithuania (1320ha) with a shoreline of 28.5km. The lake stretches 6.6km from east to west; its average depth is 6.5m. The deepest potholes of the lake (18.4m) are on its widest eastern part. An especially large, narrow and deep bay runs southwards and is called Plavėjai bay (also known as Kopta bay). There are 2 large islands in the eastern and western parts of the lake – Alaunė and Sadauskas. The Šventoji runs into the eastern part of the lake and flows out from the north-eastern corner of the lake.
Lake Luodis tourists are constantly accompanied by the stone tower of Salakas church (72m!). This is the highest building in Lithuania, built from field ashlar stone. According to legend, there is a golden bell on the bottom of Luodis. When the sun rises, it sometimes comes to the surface and starts to ring, bringing luck to anyone who hears it.
